On 16 March 1926<\/strong>, British racing driver Sir Henry Segrave<\/strong> set a groundbreaking land speed record of 152.33 mph (245.15 km\/h)<\/strong> on Ainsdale Beach. Driving Ladybird<\/strong>, a 4-litre Sunbeam Tiger, Segrave achieved one of the most significant early milestones in British motorsport history and helped establish the UK as a centre of speed record innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The centenary celebration at Ainsdale Beach brought together motorsport enthusiasts, historic vehicle supporters, and visitors with a shared interest in Britain\u2019s rich engineering and racing heritage. It was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on the pioneering drivers and machines that pushed the boundaries of speed in the early 20th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
